Grenoble Airport Transfers to the French Alps

Grenoble Alpes Isere is the nearest airport to Alpe d'Huez and Les Deux Alpes, both less than two hours away, and a mostly motorway run to the Three Valleys, Paradiski and the Espace Killy. The airport for the Oisans

Alpe d’Huez and Les Deux Alpes are Grenoble’s own resorts. The transfer takes the A48 to Grenoble, leaves the city by Vizille and follows the Romanche valley up to Bourg-d’Oisans. There Alpe d’Huez turns off for its 21 numbered hairpins, while Les Deux Alpes carries on past the Lac du Chambon to its own climb from Mont-de-Lans. No other airport we serve is closer to either resort.

From the Grenoble side, the Romanche road is the one way into both resorts, so on a Saturday it carries two resorts’ changeover at once. That is the day to leave extra room in your plans, in both directions.

Grenoble for the Tarentaise

For Courchevel, Meribel, Val Thorens, La Plagne, Les Arcs, Tignes and Val d’Isere the route heads north-east instead: the A41 up the Isere valley towards Chambery, the A43 to Albertville and the N90 into the Tarentaise. It is a longer drive than the Oisans runs, and to be plain about it, Chambery airport is closer to every one of these resorts, so a Chambery flight will give you a shorter transfer if it suits you. Grenoble is the sensible pick when its flights or fares fit better, and almost all of the extra distance is motorway.

Being met at the terminal

The airport is at Saint-Etienne-de-Saint-Geoirs, about 40 km north-west of Grenoble. In winter most of its flights arrive at weekends, many of them from the UK, and the terminal fills quickly when several land together. We monitor your flight, the pick-up moves to its real landing time, and your driver meets you inside the terminal and walks you to the vehicle. Put the flight number in the booking and that is all arranged.

How the price is set

You pay for the vehicle, not for each seat. Standard takes up to eight passengers, and VIP, the higher-specification option, up to seven. A group larger than one vehicle is priced as the number of vehicles it needs. You pay by card when you book, and the amount shown then is the amount charged.

The day matters too: weekday, Saturday and Sunday rates differ, because a Saturday transfer takes longer. A return counts as two legs, and each is priced at the rate for the day it falls on.

What the price includes

Door-to-door service to the address you give, meet and greet inside the terminal, flight monitoring, tolls and fuel. Child seats come at no extra charge if you ask for them at booking with the children’s ages. Declare skis, snowboards and oversized luggage when booking so the vehicle sent has room for them. On some routes an optional stop can be added along the way.

In good conditions: Alpe d’Huez about 1h40 and Les Deux Alpes about 1h45; Meribel about 2h05, Courchevel about 2h15 and La Plagne about 2h20; Les Arcs about 2h30, Val Thorens about 2h40, Tignes about 2h50 and Val d’Isere about 2h55. Saturday traffic and snowfall lengthen all of them, and the pick-up for your journey home is worked back from your flight time with that in mind.
