Meeting your driver at Geneva

Flight monitored, driver waiting inside the terminal. Chamonix arrivals are often short-break travellers with tight plans, so the pickup being tied to the actual landing time rather than the timetable matters more than usual.

The drive to Chamonix

The road heads east out of Geneva and follows the motorway up the Arve valley through Cluses and Sallanches, with Mont Blanc ahead of you for the last twenty minutes. It is mostly dual carriageway, which is why the journey is quick compared with the Tarentaise resorts.

The valley does get weather, and the final approach past Les Houches can slow in snow, but this is the easiest of the main transfers and the most reliable in winter.

Saturdays and short breaks

Chamonix works differently from the Tarentaise resorts: it has a year-round town and guests arriving on every day of the week, not just Saturday. Saturday is still busier and priced accordingly, but the changeover crush is less severe than in the Three Valleys.

Summer as well as winter

Chamonix is as busy in July and August as in February, with walkers, climbers and riders rather than skiers. The transfer runs all year and the price structure is the same. If you are bringing bikes or climbing kit rather than skis, tell us at booking – the principle is identical, the vehicle needs to fit the equipment.

Standard or VIP

Standard takes up to eight, VIP up to seven with a higher specification. On a ninety minute journey most groups take Standard; VIP is for those who want the arrival to feel different.

Arriving in Chamonix

The valley runs from Les Houches through Chamonix town up to Argentiere and Le Tour, and accommodation is spread along the whole of it. Argentiere is a further ten minutes or so beyond the town. Give the exact address and we take you there rather than to the centre.

Going home

Because the run to Geneva is short and mostly motorway, departures from Chamonix are more predictable than from the high resorts. We still build in a margin for the valley in snow and for ski bags at check-in.
