Meeting your driver at Geneva

Your driver tracks the flight, so a late landing moves the pickup rather than losing it. You are met inside the terminal and walked to the vehicle, which matters at Geneva in January when you are pushing a luggage trolley loaded with ski bags and small children.

Geneva airport sits on the border and has both a Swiss and a French exit. Tell us at booking which airline and flight you are on and the driver will be waiting on the correct side. If anything goes wrong on the day, you have a phone number that reaches a person, not a queue.

The drive up to Courchevel

The route leaves Geneva on the motorway, runs south past Annecy and Albertville, then follows the Tarentaise valley to Moutiers. Moutiers is where the transfer becomes an Alpine drive: the road climbs from the valley floor to Courchevel in a series of hairpins, gaining well over a thousand metres in the last half hour.

That last section is the reason to use a driver who does it every week in winter. In heavy snow the climb is slower and occasionally requires chains, and the difference between a driver who knows the road and one who does not is the difference between arriving relaxed and arriving late.

Saturdays are different

Saturday is changeover day across the Three Valleys. Nearly every chalet and apartment in the resort changes guests on the same day, and the whole Tarentaise fills with coaches, minibuses and hire cars heading the same way. Expect the journey to take noticeably longer than a weekday, plan for it, and do not book the tightest possible connection on the way home. Our Saturday price reflects the extra time the vehicle and driver are committed for.

Standard or VIP

Standard carries up to eight passengers and is the right choice for most families and groups. VIP carries up to seven in a higher specification vehicle, with more space per person once luggage and ski bags are loaded. If your group is larger than one vehicle can take, the booking simply prices the number of vehicles needed and they travel together.

Children, skis and luggage

Child seats are available at no extra charge, but they have to be requested when you book so the right seats are in the vehicle. Tell us the ages of the children and we will bring what fits them.

Skis, snowboards and oversized bags should also be declared at booking. It is not about charging extra for a ski bag; it is about sending a vehicle with room for eight people and their equipment rather than one that technically seats eight.

Arriving in Courchevel

Courchevel is not one village but several, stacked up the mountainside: Le Praz lowest, then Courchevel Village and Courchevel Moriond, with Courchevel 1850 at the top. They are separate places, several minutes apart by road, so give us the exact accommodation address rather than just “Courchevel”. Door-to-door means the door of the building you are staying in, including the higher streets in 1850 where a coach could never go.

Going home

Book the return at the same time and it is arranged as one journey in two legs, each priced at the rate for its own day. For a departure we work backwards from your flight time and pick you up early enough for the drive down, the airport queues and the ski bags at check-in. If the resort has had a heavy snowfall overnight, the driver will suggest leaving earlier rather than hoping.

Which part of Courchevel do you drop off in?

All of them. Book Courchevel 1850 as the destination if that is where you are staying – it is priced separately, because it is the longest climb. For Le Praz, Courchevel Village and Courchevel Moriond, book Courchevel and give the full address; the driver takes you to that door.
